ABOUT US

Un-Cabaret creator, writer & comedian Beth Lapides and producer Greg Miller give you veteran perspective, uncanny perception and inspirational tough love to explore and develop material for stage, page, digital, pitches, meetings and life!

"This class literally changed my life!" - Ray, writer/performer

More wildly-enthusiastic testimonials

Beth and Greg create a supportive but challenging environment for writers, actors, comics, improvisers, journalists, entrepreneurs, teachers, creatives and anyone interested in developing their authentic voice and funniest self.

The Beth Method uses story-based comedy principals and techniques developed at the Un-Cabaret and Say the Word by Beth and her friends who pioneered this signature style of idiosyncratic, personal, confessional standup storytelling.

"What fun! I feel like a completely different comedian!" - Richard Lucas

Our students have gone on to sell scripts and pitches, get TV writing and hosting jobs, publish books, win story slams, ace auditions, get articles in print and online, collaborate with each other to produce their own live comedy shows, mount their own one-person shows, and live happier, richer, longer
* lives.

The Lab has included writers from "Mad-TV", "King of the Hill", "Undeclared", "Gilmore Girls", "Californication", "Dawson's Creek", "Bernie Mac", and other shows, screenwriters of "The Last Seduction", "Bring It On" and others, On-Air Talent from MTV, ABC, MSNBC, professional Journalists, Comedians, Magicians, Math Professors, Yoga Teachers, Librarians, Therapists, Attorneys, and many people who have never been onstage before.

"We don't teach comedy. Comedy is our teacher." - Beth Lapides

Beth & Greg have taught workshops and lectured at Humber College, University of Iowa, Brown University, Cal Arts, Improv Olympics, Media Bistro, Judy Carter's Comedy Workshop, the Skirball Center and have been teaching and coaching privately for over 10 years.

"I got a 'Not Guilty' verdict in my murder case and my closing argument had something to do with it I'm sure! I've never done a closing so strong and according to the judge, "eloquent" (can you imagine?). I owe much of it to your classes because you've taught me to get up there and "communicate"!" - Murray Meyer, Criminal Defense Attorney
