If you felt like you were going crazy this week, it wasn't just you. It was me, my mom, the guy at the front desk at the gym. It was almost everyone I know. And yes it was a crazy week with Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett both going off planet and Iran and the lost govenor and and and. But isn't almost every week like that these days?
But this week was a new moon.
We're all aware of the full moon and it's bewitching powerful and somewhat crazy making magic. But recently I've started to notice that the dark mysterious new moon is even more crazy making than her bright sister. Why?!!
Is it because she can sneak up on us more easily? Is it that the new and the full moons both signal the turns between waxing and waning, big shifts in energy, and we are full up to here with changes. So any big shifts, especially if they catch us off guard are more difficult? Is it something about now? Something about us?
I have resolved to begin tracking these new moons. I have installed a widget in the left hand column of this website so you can check in daily and see where we're at with Miss Luna. I'll try to include new moon alerts in my emails as well.
Because if we can get in synch with the new moon and be conscious of the energy, maybe we can use it to help us in these Transformation Times. And here's how. The up side of the new moon is its tiny crescent of a sweet smile. As if it's telling us to have fun with the dark, find the laughter in the dark places.
And I know from all my years on the comedy stage that the deepest laughter is found in the darkness. Comedy comes from pain, shame, humiliation, grief, struggle, friction, fear, falling. The practice of comedy is looking at those things with a certain kind of detachment. Being willing to be the fool. That's The Comedians Way. And I think this is the lesson of the new moon. Which we can get if we track it. And put the 'ha' back in hatha. But I'm no astrologer.
Astrologers, please do weigh in on this.
