THE COMEDIANS WAY WORKSHOP (aka The Un-Cab Lab) A Spiritual Path to Higher Foolishness for Writers, Performers and Other Humans
You’ll learn to use storytelling, confessions, rants, song, movement and other proven techniques to generate ‘material’, whether that means a show, book, blog or just a better attitude in life. And you'll give and get laughs, which is healthy in and of itself.
This workshop is a safe environment that encourages risk taking. It emboldens you to discover your own personal organic comedy style and get on the path to your own Fool’s Journey through life.

THE COMEDIAN'S WAY - A Spiritual Path to Higher Foolishness for Writers, Performers and Other Humans
Your most authentic Self is contained not in how funny you are, but in how you are funny.
The Comedian's Way gives you the insights and tools to discover and uncover your funniest self. We'll help you uncover your own personal organic comedy style using our own proven tools and techniques. You’ll get the chance to explore original material - and receive specific personalized notes and assignments to take your work to the next level and integrate it into your life.
SPECIFIC WORK:
YOUR OWN PERSONAL SUTRA – The sutras are the sacred threads of yoga philosophy. Beth & Greg help you identify the central threads that run through the mala of your life and understand how to use them as the basis of your humor. Because without the thread, it’s just a bunch of beads.
THE PRESENT – Learn to harness the power of Now – and the power of Not Right Now -- including specific skills for getting and staying in the moment.
ATTITUDE – Lots of things happen in life, but our reactions and attitude shape our experience and turn something from a series of events into a story. It’s also what makes something funny.
DIMENSIONALITY – Braided strands are what give a thread its strength – and sustain interest. Beth & Greg help you identify at least 3 dimensions of your personality and use them to generate more humor, depth and that distinct flavor that makes you You.
DYNAMICS – Twists, surprises and changes in your life are what give your story it’s shape and what make any ‘performance’ compelling. You can learn to amplify and exaggerate your natural comic instincts.
VOICE – ‘Voice’ in comedy includes your distinctive rhythm and other voices – your dialog with others in your story, and the conversation with your audience.
PROCESS: the Page-to-Stage System – Writing and speaking work different brain lobes and different comedy muscles. Participants in this workshop will practice both. When you integrate the two, you create an infinity loop that will minimize writers block and stage fright and maximize creativity. This workshop also includes our version of ‘firewalking’: speaking into a microphone to a room full of people.
RESULTS: The Comedian’s Way workshop will send you home feeling invigorated, refreshed and empowered. You’ll come to a deeper understanding of your self, be able to communicate more effectively, understand how to nurture your own creativity and generate more funny-ness for page, stage, screen and/or daily life.
Beth gives an inspirational rap at the beginning of every class session. She usually talks about the creative process based on her own work. In this video, she gives an illuminating perspective on the differences of each medium and format.
