Hey Health Lovers 4: You Say Pineal, I Say 3rd Eye - Featuring Sound Healer Tom Kenyon
Here's an amazing free download courtesy of the uniquely talented sound healer Tom Kenyon. It's a little over 5 minutes long and the idea is that you listen to it with headphones on and imagine that the sound is coming OUT of your pineal gland - aka 3rd eye.
I have started working with it because at this point anything we can do to open up our third eyes is a must! I can tell you it is very beautiful, and of a type of beauty you may not have experienced before. Mysterious, open, deep, magnetic are some words that come to mind.

The pineal gland is embedded in your brain but it’s not of your brain.
It’s literally the mind body connection.
The Comedian's Way: 18 Reasons that Laughter is the Best Medicine
I always feel a little silly getting technical and medical and serious about the healing power of laughter.
But with the health care crisis reaching epidemic proportions and people freaking out about the state of the world, feeling a little silly is a small price to pay. In fact feeling silly is The Comedian's Way.
So here are the very serious facts about laughing.
Hey Health Lovers 2: Tongue Twister
When I was a kid and my brother and I were accusing each other of starting it, my mom would tell us to stick out our tongues. After careful inspection she would say, ok, I know who is telling the tuth and that would be that. The fight would end because how can you fight when you are completely absorbed by the question of how mom can know the truth by looking at our tongues?!
I've been thinking about this because I've been looking at my own tongue lately. The same way that the tail can wag the dog, the tongue can wag the person.
In ancient cultures one very basic health practice that is only now being inroduced to modern civilization is tongue scraping. One visit every six months to the dentist can't compare to the benefits of a little scraping every day. Best to use metal not plastic.
And lay off the ADA approved alchohol based mouthwashes which completely throw off the PH balance of your mouth. Better to use water and a little bit of pepermint oil. And/or clove. And/or cinammon oil.
Seasons Eatings
When you think red & green food, you've got to think beet quinoa toss-up, right?
Quinoa, of course, isn't even a grain, it's a seed. Which explains the super-concentrated happiness that bursts forth when you cook it (2 cups of water to 1 cup of q, like a grain). These proportions will serve 2-4:
1 cup of Q. I like to toast it lightly in the pot before adding water
2 cups of water, high heat
Cut up 2-3 beets and throw those in
Boil until water is gone - beets should be cooked but still frisky. You might want to start cooking them before the quinoa. When it's done, fluff it and let it cool a little. Cut up scallions and/or cucumbers and/or parsley and/or other greens and mix them in for a red and green toss up.
Served here with green & red: red chard sauteed with an onion.
Hey Health Lovers!
An important, and time sensitive petition that was forwarded to me by a health lover. Read, sign, send, resume your positions. Apparently we have to fight off a last-minute Bush-Cheney play to make USDA regulations even more hideous. Why have any oversight on biotech companies, right? These regulations which would make it illegal to ship herbal supplements across state lines! And I'm not being euphemistic. But that's not all. Soak Your Nuts
We've been soaking our nuts and not just because it's so much fun to say. In fact we've been making almond milk* with the soaked nuts and soaking our seeds too.
It turns out soaking nuts (or seeds or grains) releases something called an acidic defensive enzyme inhibitor, making the nuts/seeds/grain easier to digest. And let's face it, doesn't your body have enough to do without having to work so hard to digest nuts?
