It’s All Transitions

So I'm in the middle of yoga class
And my teacher's reminding us
That transitions are where most injuries happen.
So be mindful.

Ok sure
I am super focused on it.

But then I had a thought.
It happens.
Just notice.
Don't cling.
Oh but this was a big thought.
Neon and sparkles.

IT'S ALL TRANSITIONS.
THE POSES ARE TRANSITIONS.
THE TRANSITIONS ARE TRANSITIONS.

The things we call poses
Are how we get in and out of
The things we call transitions.

But so called poses are alive
Fluid
You breathe and adjust and go deeper and step back
So we are transitioning from the beginning of the pose
To the end of the pose.

But also
If the transitions are so important
And they are
We are more vulnerable in them
And everyone who's listened to
Even a little Brene Brown knows
Vulnerability is how we measure courage.
So if the transitions are where that's happening
There's a where there.
As much of a where as the poses.
Which are transitions into
Those previously considered interim places.

IT'S ALL TRANSITIONS

Back to life off the mat.
Its own transition.
Off the mat
Is the reason to have
A life
On the mat.
Same with
The cushion
The therapist's office
The meeting.

And I get how despite knowing
Theres no going back
To the Before Times
Something in me feels we are transitioning
Into a new pose - an after.
Looking for something
Unmoveable.

But it's all transitions.
It's all a dance
With no pose to strike.
Keep fluid.
Take action.
Action is what creates hope.
And hope isn't about what's going to happen in the future.
Hope is a feeling about now.
That we need.
Because Texas.
On top of everything
I don't need to name.
You're in it.

 It's all transitions.
We dance with the chaos.
And we laugh.
What's the pose in a laugh?
No pose.
It's all transitions.
